John Sipe
Owner & Builder
John Sipe is a North Carolina native from the Winston-Salem area, originally making his way to the coast to study Environmental Science at UNC-Wilmington. His natural mechanical ability along with the desire to elevate quality and efficiency proved an ideal fit for becoming a professional in the building industry. Apprenticeships quickly led to progressive leadership roles and ultimately the formation of the JT Sipe Building Company in 2004.
After a decade of highly regarded projects around the Piedmont-Triad area, John moved his business to Ocean Isle Beach, NC where he settled down with his family in 2014. John’s commitment to service (including the achievement of Eagle Scout, multiple terms as neighborhood association President, and willingness to always lend a helping hand) combined with his 20+ years of building experience attribute to the company’s success and consistent customer satisfaction. In his spare time John enjoys an active lifestyle as an avid surfer, fisherman, and mountain biker. And when its time to relax, you may find him enjoying a few local sandbars along with his two Boykin Spaniels.
Matt Hemmings
Sales & Commercial Operations
Also native to the Winston-Salem area, Matt Hemmings attended UNC-Charlotte for Business. His career developed within the Home Improvement Retail industry with leadership roles in Sales and Commercial Operations. Matt worked for notable brands such as Bosch, Dremel, Skil, Rubbermaid, OXO/Good Grips, Lodge Cast Iron, among others and was instrumental in the design and market strategy for several private label programs including Allen + Roth (kitchen sinks, vanity & decorative mirrors) at Lowe’s Home Improvement. This path led to business ownership opportunities and ultimately the development of his own brand in the CPG space.
Throughout these varied experiences; what became central to Matt is bringing creative passion and professional approach to the customer experience — a dedication he’s excited to bring to your journey with the JT Sipe Building Company. Matt spends free time traveling, playing or chasing live music, cooking, and enjoying time on the water w/ family & friends.
